So write up a bug report and let it sit there until someone else has  
time to fix it.
Developers will only change things they know is a problem. Admittedly,  
it might sit there forever since it's a "low priority" compared to  
functionality that is broken but at least it is documented as an issue  
and some kind soul who wants to start learning how to submit code to  
the project might pick it up.

Not to sound like a jerk, but no one is born knowing how to do UI  
programming in X Windows. It's really not as scary as you might think.  
It does require some investment, though. For instance, a development  
machine you don't mind reformatting over and over again until you get  
it right and a lot of time. If I could stop adding machines to my  
production MythTV environment, I might save one of them for  
development one of these days....
