An easy solution is to simply add something like
export MYTHCONFDIR=/var/lib/mythtv
to /etc/sysconfig/mythbackend (and in the .bashrc of whatever user
runs mythfrontend and mythtv-setup). No need to edit the init.d
script. Move everything in whatever .mythtv directory one has been
using previouslly to what MYTHCONFDIR is set to. Channel icons' paths
will have to be reset; I did a find-and-replace query in the database.
