Personally I'd try and shoe horn the X2 in, more grunt, more features
(SEE and such). Semperons tend to be the budget chips, like the old
Duron, probably fine for a FE only, but would be dubious of it in a
combined unit doing 2x records and potentially 1x playback at the same
time. Mobile chips can be quite good, but no experience of them since
the days of a AMD64 DTR based laptop.
Looking at your intended machine I'd assume it'll come with a custom
cooler man enough to deal with any CPU the mobo is compatible with.

2GB should be golden, enough for everything to be more than happy.

Yes, although if possible expect to be adding more drives... because
well, you might end up being a digital media pack rat :) 500Gb units
seem to be going in to free fall with the 1Tb units appearing in large
numbers so should give most bang for buck as it were.

OTOMH no, but I'd assume its max will be around whatever PAL widescreen is.

If possible I'd take the chassis spec sheet and sit there going "google
<bit>" to make sure the various chipsets and functions are supported or
at least working in Linux. But I'm paranoid :)
