That sounds like the drive might be having trouble reading the disc.   
Have you tried different DVDs?

I should mention that while I watched a lot of TV and a lot of DIVX  
videos on my M10000, I never actually tried playing a DVD in it.  So I  
don't have any first-hand experience with making that part work.
