I did have 1 year (ending last year) of uptime with my previous master
backend at home largely because it was connected to a PowerCom 1000VA
UPS with enough power to run the system (dual processor K7 - no power
management , 5 hard drives ...)  for over 45 minutes. The good thing
is since I moved into my new house in 2004 we have only had 1 power
outage for more than that although being on top of a small mountain we
probably loose power once a month when the wind blows the high voltage
lines down...
