This is just how things work, it's not an add-on feature that can be
disabled. The recording state machine relies on knowing what channel
the tuner is on at all times so it needs to be initialized to some
channel. Then when it starts a recording it only changes the channel
if it isn't already on the channel it wants to record from.

However, if you can read the currently tuned channel from the cable
box using some external script you can simply change the initial
channel in the DB to that channel before starting up the backend.
I can't say whether your script would be accepted into the contribs
directory, but you would want to submit a ticket with your patch
to add it there in trac, not post it to the developer mailing list.
