I agree. I doubt the video card is the issue. I'm running an onboard 6150 at
720p and it doesn't have any problems at all. A new FE machine has an 8200
onboard, but that's for VDPAU. I haven't tested VDPAU yet, but I will over
the holiday weekend. I started the mplayer build last night before going to
sleep. The rest of the system specs and the exact issues might help people
figure out what you might want to look at. For reference, here's mine.

Asus M2NPV-VM
1G RAM
AMD X2 6000+
500GB HD
OTA HDHomeRun

Plays all recordings fine, as well as HD x264 encoded from BD rips. I
routinely play 1080p material at about 12MBit/sec. I output to my TV over
component video at 720p. Myth is deinterlacing everything that needs it as
well. Most of the BD rips come over the network, gigabit, from a linux based
fileserver running 6x400GB in a RAID5. Recordings live on the Mythbox on an
XFS partition.

I am not using anything like CoreAVC, though I did try it out. I didn't
notice a big diference with it, but it did seem to cause A/V sync issues, so
I dropped it.

The new FE is using my old CPU, an X2 3800+. That chip can do MPEG2 OTA
recordings in HD, but the x264 stuff caused it issues. I'm going to attempt
VDPAU on it. If that works, both myth machines may get some cheap Semprons.
:)
