[mythtv-users] bulk transcode of recorded shows?

I've been too embarrassed to ask this, but given it's the season of 
goodwill to all I might just get away it now. I'll preface this by 
saying that I have read the transcoding section in the wiki but found it 
confusing and not helpful. So,

When recorded videos are "transcoded"

1) where is the transcoded result stored?
2) how do I know transcoding has completed?
3) how do I identify/ select the transcoded files for copying to other 
storage devices?

PS: That said, I use nuvexport and generally don't have any glaring 
issue with it other than its tedious menu system.
