The conclusion to one of these threads was that the fellow had a hardware
issue. He put in a soundblaster card he had hanging around and it worked.
I am running mythbuntu 8.10 on a P4P800E Deluxe and it works fine. If any
of my setup parameters would help, please ask.
I have a combined FE\BE and two FE only machines. What I have done on all of
them is take the mythbuntu instructions and printed them out and followed it
page by page carefully during the install. If I screw up and hit something
wrong, I start over. If it doesn't work, I start over. I would estimate
that it takes 3 installs per machine to get it to work.
Hope this helps,
Allen
