I'd recommend an iPod and transcoding your recordings to some sort of
mpeg4.  The newer ones need to be jailbroken before your mythbox can
talk to them, so if you plan on loading everything via linux it may be
easier to get a previous generation.  I have a 5.5 generation video
that works well.
