IMO, the only reason to interact with the system while not in front of it
would be to change the music playlist.  If you're watching video then there
is little utility in having a separate GUI from the display where you are
about to watch video.  However, changing the music from another room is very
useful.  The iPhone remote program for iTunes/AppleTV offers this
funcionality and I use it all the time.
