[mythtv-users] Adding HD-Homerun to system

Yes, scanning channels via Myth Setup works with the HDHomerun. However,
you may find that the channels you get are not numbered as you expect
and may have to reset them to the channel numbers you expect. This is
true on many QAM cable systems. Over-The-Air should just work. I also
have a PVR-500 and added an HDHomerun. Scanning channels for the
HDHomerun did not harm the settings on the PVR-500 in any way. But to be
safe, backup your MySQL database before you scan for channels on the
HDHomerun.

NOTE: You do not say what version of MythTV you are running. There was a
period of time when it was not recommended that you scan channels on the
HDHomerun due to bugs in Myth at that time. That has not been true for
some time and if you are using the current stable release you should be
fine.
