Yes you can use a splitter to split the cable going into the HD
Homerun, If that's what you're asking.

This is true, the HD Homerun can only record unencrypted QAM or ATSC channels.
The only way to record the encrypted channels is either with the HD
PVR 1212 from Hauppauge through component from your cable box, or with
your PVR-500 through s-video or composite from your cable box (of
course with the latter you would end up with an SD recording, though a
very good one)
