That might be of some interest, I've noticed we seem to have a wide
assortment of vocations here on this list, though it is, not
surprisingly, a little slanted towards technical fields.
I note that some posters do list some vocational info in their sigs,
not a problem if brief, and can actually be helpful. Like all sigs,
multiple entries on deeply-threaded replies should be removed.
Location info can also be helpful, especially when asking about
listings sources etc. Gmail accounts make it difficult to place a
poster geographically.

That makes sense, though as I am retired I guess people either don't
notice that or are scattergunning their pitches.
I had once thought that we might consider "user profiles" on the
MythTV web site (perhaps in the WiKi). I was thinking more of profiles
of the user's systems though, so if somebody is having a problem you
could look up the details of their system, or perhaps look up users
who might have a business or hobby interest in common, or be using
specific hardware.
Are the listed professions on linkedin vetted in any way? Or could
somebody just trying to sell a product claim to have some expertise he
or she didn't actually have just to try and make a sale?
