[mythtv-users] limit the quantity of movies that get recorded

I find that I end up manually managing the quantity of movies I have
recorded at any given time by adjusting the "inactive" flag on
schedules, switching most to inactive once I've accumulated a bunch.
Is there a way to create a recording rule that will limit the quantity
of movies recorded in a specified recording group, similar to the way
you can limit the number of episodes that get recorded for a given
recording rule?
Obviously the challenge is that each movie has its own unique recording
rule, so the "number of recordings to keep" attribute doesn't do
anything useful.
I'm guessing it may be possible to accomplish this with a power search,
but unless a new UI was created to easily create power searches for
movies, it would be a pain to have to create one for every movie.
(On a related note, I've noticed the "number of recordings to keep"
attribute doesn't seem to have an effect when applied to a power search.
At least not one entered via Mythweb.)
I know there are some side projects for managing movies, and I'd be
interested to know if any of them address this problem.
Ideally, MythTV should have some special handling for movie schedules.
In addition to the above functionality of letting you group together all
movie schedules to apply attributes to them, it would also be nice if
movie schedules automatically got deleted once the movie was deleted by
the user or marked watched. And I'd like to be able to mark movies as
"never watch" in a way that is distinguished from "never record"/"recorded."
Though I suppose a couple of more generic enhancements to the scheduler
could accomplish the same thing. Like the ability to group together
recording schedules, and an attribute to say a schedule was a "one shot"
(different from a "one time") schedule.
A "movie manager" add-on to Mythweb would be another way to go. It could
provide some of this functionality, such as generating power searches to
implement the desired behavior, as well as a movie-centric UI for
showing you just the upcoming films you haven't previously marked as
"never watch" or "recorded."
