Thanks Brad. I tried your suggestions, and then discovered the real
problem: I had the tuner set to start on a nonexistent channel (Channel
1). I found this by looking in the mythbackend.log, which I probably
wouldn't have thought of myself. At any rate, I reset the tuner to start
on channel 6 (which does exist) and was good to go. I now have a fully
functional (well, at least everything I have tried) Mythbuntu 8.04 rc 1
box!
