On the other hand:
All data under /var/lib/mysql/mythconverg amounts to about 23 megs over
here.
This should fit easily into RAM, so stuff should be very quick.
Normally the machine is ~50% idle (with frontend running), so there's
enough CPU-cycles to do some queries?

So how would I get most of mysql's data(base) in RAM?
Any tweaks?
