What version do you run?  Here's what I get when I try to run a second 
frontend, even as a different user:

yan at selene:/sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq$ mythfrontend
2008-04-17 17:36:26.551 Using runtime prefix = /usr/local
QServerSocket: failed to bind or listen to the socket

My current version is a bit dated 0.21-svn:
