It sounds like you have a theme assigned that may not be compatible
with 0.21.  Try running the frontend from the command line an override
the theme with any of the other available themes...for example:

mythfrontend -O Theme=MythCenter

If it's a theme problem that should get you by it and you can them
pick whatever working theme you want.
