Check mythbackend.log during the timeframe it was recording the show. 
If you see IOBOUND errors you've found your problem.  I record to an NAS 
and occasionaly have these exact symptoms.  A quick check of the log 
shows the IOBOUND errors.  It happens so infrequently I don't worry 
about it and don't know the solution.  I'm using gigabit with jumbo 
frames enabled so you wouldn't think I'd get any errors.
