with apologies for the unthreading ... thank you to the two Michaels for
comments and notes on saa7134 usage. You motivated me to explore the issue
further, and not just give up. Fur the rekud, here's how it went.

In an ASUS M2NBP-VM CSM motherboard, a Flyvideo 3000 and a Compro VideoMate
Gold+ both work just fine with myth. Just fine, no dramas getting them going.

In a Gigabyte M61-S3 motherboard, things are different. Pics + sound are both there,
but they move in stuttering bursts of chipmunk audio and jerky video. Naturally, the
backend where I planned to install one is the M61-S3. C'est la vie. I now know what
works (and where!), so I'll just reallocate cards accordingly.
