The best advice i can give is reboot...reboot.reboot.  The PC and the STB
with variations of cable connnected during boot, once booted,  etc.  I had
best luck with rebooting both machines while not connected.  then connecting
firewire and testing.  once you get it working DONT TOUCH the stb or you can
kick it out of sync.
