Thanks for your suggestion.
I don't use the video4linux-kmdl in the past but this seems to be a good
solution. So assuming the patch is built here, here's the following steps I
think I shd do:
1. download and install the 2.6.22 kernel
http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pub/fedora/linux/core/updates/6/i386/kerne
l-2.6.22.2-42.fc6.i686.rpm
2. download and install the corresponding video4linux kernel module
http://dl.atrpms.net/all/video4linux-kmdl-2.6.22.2-42.fc6-20070731-81.fc6.i6
86.rpm
3. download and install the corresponding lirc module
http://dl.atrpms.net/all/lirc-kmdl-2.6.22.2-42.fc6-0.8.2-68.fc6.i686.rpm
4. re-run the nvidia binary NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.11-pkg1.run
Please let me know if Im missing something here. For the mean time, I will
look at the linuxtv.org and check. But if others can chime in and verify,
that will be great too.

You don't have to build the whole kernel. Try first installing the
video4linux-kmdl package from atrpms. With any luck it will have the patch
already in.
Otherwise, the easiest thing is probably to checkout, build and install the
v4l-dvb repository. See http://www.linuxtv.org/repo/ for instructions.
