Not sure to be honest. I do know that compiling ffmpeg on my Gentoo box
with "threads" in the USE flags causes ffmpeg to utilize threads.

I wasn't aware Myth had an embedded ffmpeg, but if it does it should be
possible to have it compiled with thread support.
