Just in case that didn't answer your question....
You CAN run other applications on a device that is running Myth.

If you want the Client (front end) to incorporate other applications
into its menu, it is simple to edit the text file which defines the
menus.  But, if you're using a remote control instead of a keyboard to
control your client, you'll need applications that will work with lirc
(either natively or through its key-sending interface).

As Stef said, there are a some functions within the Myth package they
may do the job for you.

MythMusic is great for MP3s.  But I don't off the top of my head know
of anything which will do ip-radio.  You may want to search the
archives of this list, or the wiki that's on www.mythtv.org to check.
