Steve,

I've always found the easiest way to get nvidia up and running after  
doing a system update, is to make sure you have the kernel-devel  
package installed via yum, then just download the driver from  
nvidia.com and follow the install instructions.  It should build the  
required kernel module for you.  I end up doing this after any  
significant change to my system.
