[myth at mythtv ~]$ ls /usr/bin/ |grep mtd
[myth at mythtv ~]$ ls /usr/local/bin/ |grep mtd
mtd
[myth at mythtv ~]$

so i have /usr/local/bin/.

how do i make sure i upgrade to mtd trunk?
