Your receiver might be sending a small combined signal to the center
speaker on its own. My receiver will send low rumbly sound to my rear
speakers when I play a stereo track and have the receiver set to
surround. It really does sound like a misconfiguration that is
sending a stereo signal. In any event, that program OTA HD from NBC
in the SF Bay area audio seems fine.
