I haven't bothered doing it to separate files, since the cooking shows
I watch the recipes are usually intertwined, anyway, but what I do is:

- Mark portions you *don't* want with cut marks, like Gary said.
- Select "transcode."
- Wait a bit for the transcode to complete.
- Note the date, time and channel of the program.
- On a command line, move (or copy) the file from your TV storage
directory (the name will contain the data/time/channel) to your videos
directory, giving it a more obvious name.
- Go into Video Setup to re-scan for videos files.
