If you're not already using XVMC, you should try using that. It may
become possible to watch 1080i in that case. XVMC offloads some of the
mpeg2 decoding from the processor to the graphics card.
It's my understanding that upgrading the processor will be a better
choice for improving HD playback than upgrading the graphics card, if
you already have an Nvidia 5200. I could be wrong about that if you are
using XVMC though. Also, XVMC does not work on ATI cards right now.
There is some snazzy new open source driver in the works now, but mpeg2
acceleration is probably a ways off.
So I would say look into getting XVMC working if you haven't already, or
check out upgrading the processor.
