Hmmm... If this becomes common practice, should there be a setting for 
allowable overlap?

(My cynical mind is telling me this could be the networks' way to mess 
up recording popular shows....)

Say, 3 minutes or 5 minutes or whatever?

That way you could say, start recording at 10:00 to 10:05, which would 
allow this sort of overlap.
