In that case 127.0.0.1 is still not the answer, at least for
transporting the files.

The answer would depend on how much frontend functionality he really
wants on the laptop. This could range from none - in which case all he
has to do is copy the files over and play them with VLC or the like, to
a fully functioning F/E, in which case he would have to talk to the
database in one way or another, or copy it or a subset of it to the laptop.
