I had success simply using the QAM scanner in mythtv-setup with the
HDHR.  There is a how-to here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HDHomeRun#head-b137a44058edd7aff95f2481a5558bc92cebdb24
It's for ubuntu, but it walks you thru scanning via the setup screens.

After the scan, I used phpmyadmin to edit my channels database to
remove the encrypted channels from my cableco.
