this "something" is still mythfrontend media monitor and it does it
every two seconds:

2007-11-03 22:12:14.968 Starting media monitor.
2007-11-03 22:12:15.475 /dev/cdrom Disk OK...
2007-11-03 22:12:15.476 /dev/cdrom Current status MEDIASTAT_UNKNOWN
2007-11-03 22:12:15.477 found no disk
2007-11-03 22:12:15.979 /dev/cdrom Disk OK...
2007-11-03 22:12:15.979 /dev/cdrom Current status MEDIASTAT_UNKNOWN
2007-11-03 22:12:15.981 found no disk
2007-11-03 22:12:16.482 /dev/cdrom Disk OK...

I disabled it in Setup -> Main Settings -> Removable Media ...

I tried something else. I put /dev/cdrom in the list to be ignored ...
But mythtv started reporting this:

2007-11-03 22:22:12.038 found no disk
2007-11-03 22:22:12.540 /dev/dvd Disk OK...
2007-11-03 22:22:12.541 /dev/dvd Current status MEDIASTAT_UNKNOWN

/dev/dvd and /dev/cdrom are both symlinks to /dev/hdc
I put /dev/dvd also in the ignore list and mythfrontend started reporting this:

2007-11-03 22:23:30.599 found no disk
2007-11-03 22:23:31.101 /dev/hdc Disk OK...
2007-11-03 22:23:31.101 /dev/hdc Current status MEDIASTAT_UNKNOWN

And finaly mythfrontend stopped polling this device. I had to put
/dev/cdrom,/dev/dvd,/dev/hdc in the ignore list to stop it.

Is this a bug? I should not need this ignore list if the checkbox
would work? I usually dont have blank DVDs in the drive and I did not
see this message before.

But I see this every time when I start mythfrontend:
2007-11-03 22:28:53.009 Starting media monitor.
QServerSocket: failed to bind or listen to the socket
2007-11-03 22:28:53.012 NetworkControl: Listening for remote
connections on port 6546

This message "QServerSocket: failed to bind or listen to the socket"
is always right after starting media monitor. And why should it start
media monitor if the checkbox is disabled?

Thanks

M.
