Sorry for the continual Re-post here:

So after looking through the script it looks like it takes all the files (I
assume sim links would work?) from one directory (the defined mythtv record
directory) and creates a seperate structure somewhere else (destination) of
the files renamed to whatever the format was you specifiy.

So, again to ensure I understand this:

MythTV would Record to /video
A script (myth_archive_job.pl) would move the recording to /mnt/video1
leaving a symbolic link to the recording in the /video directory so mythtv
can read and play it.
MythRename --link then is run every 30 minutes to create a seperate
directory (say /video/renamed) of sim links back to the files in the /video
directory (which are themselves simlinks back to the /mnt/video*
directories).

Does this work?  I guess you can double re-direct this way without issues?
