Well first, I only really know about USA prices.

Second, for the same $150 or so you can get a 2.4 Ghz. PIV, with serial,
parallel, VGA video output, sound and a 40 or 80 GB hard drive, room for
an optical drive and a lot more.

If space, power consumption, noise or other factors compel you to pay
more for something less-capable, slower and smaller, with a lesser-known
CPU type, by all means go ahead, but there is so much used i386 desktop
stuff out there that you would have to have a really good reason (like a
hobby) to go with anything else.
