I've been getting the same thing (although, the values of the registers
are different).

mythbackend[2908] general protection rip:3b55ffdcd0 rsp:7fffc36e65a8
error:0

I usually come home after work, the myth box has already woken itself
up and mythbackend has crashed. Looking at /var/log/messages, it does
not happen right away. The backend is running for some time before
crashing.

The last several log messages in the backend's log are:

2007-05-16 20:00:02.479 MPEGRec(/dev/video0) Warning: Audio sample rate
32000 Hz is not supported by ivtv driver, using 48000 Hz instead.
2007-05-16 20:00:03.496 Reschedule requested for id 0.
2007-05-16 20:00:04.061 Scheduled 119 items in 0.6 = 0.01 match + 0.56
place 2007-05-16 20:00:04.138 Event socket closed. No connection to the
backend. [mpeg2video @ 0x36ceb0d530]ac-tex damaged at 30 21
[mpeg2video @ 0x36ceb0d530]Warning MVs not available
2007-05-16 20:00:14.401 Connecting to backend server: 127.0.0.1:6543
(try 1 of 5) 2007-05-16 20:00:14.406 Connection timed out.
You probably should modify the Master Server
settings in the setup program and set the
                        proper IP address.

I am running mythtv-0.21-157_trunk_r13316.fc6.at on an Athlon64 X2
machine using DVB drivers from the stock kernel (2.6.20-1.2948.fc6)
and ivtv-0.10.1-127.fc6.
