[mythtv-users] Best way to upgrade MythTV?

Hi Everyone.

I have my MythTV setup and configured pretty much perfectly and don't want
to screw it up. However, lately I have been experiencing the issue with my
ATSC card where recordings are not working reliably, errors with regards to
PMT. I can't remember the exact wording now but it is my understanding that
this has been fixed recently in one of the newer SVN or TRUNK builds. I have
never updated my MythTV since I ininitially installed it about 6 months ago
because it has been working so well there hasn't been a need, and also
because I am afraid of breaking something. :-(

Here is basically how I initially installed it:

I used TRUNK as I needed some of the things from it at the time.

svn co http://svn.mythtv.org/svn/trunk/mythtv
svn co http://svn.mythtv.org/svn/trunk/mythplugins
svn co http://svn.mythtv.org/svn/trunk/myththemes

I then applied a couple small patches unique to my setup and then built
MythTV as follows:

./configure --enable-dvb --enable-xvmc --enable-proc-opt
make
make install #Copys files to /usr/local/bin

I built themes and plugins the using the same procedure. Can I just follow
that path again by checking out the latest trunk build? With what version
was the ATSC patch applied? Is there any precautions I can take beforehand
to avert disaster? I don't know why I am so worried but Myth is working so
well other than the aforementioned issue.

Thanks a bunch.

Kevin
