I had seen this once in a while when recordings began or ended and  
suspected jfs. I reformatted to ext3 and haven't had any lockups any  
more. I also suspect that it was an issue specifically with a 64 bit  
kernel and jfs not playing nicely, but others report no issue with  
this combination.
