It's most likely NOT a recording issue.  When recording HDTV in most 
cases you're just getting a bitstream of data.  Corruption in the 
bitstream from being too slow to record is shown by noisy blocks in the 
picture and skips in the video.  The audio and video are not captured 
separately and then remuxed, which is what your problem sounds like it 
is predicated on.

I'd look at the frontend related issues.
