Update:

After removing a timing/irq kernel boot switch, and with the larger 
write buffer in Myth, things *seem* much nicer.  I'll know once I watch 
any of the recordings, especially HD.

One thought I did have, and should have known from the 'old' days of my 
youth - I should probably put the OS and swap on an IDE drive, and use 
the SATA's purely for storage...

Well, that' for a 'lazy' saturday afternoon
