Why not try a very simple approach.

Add this to the Device section of your xorg.conf file:

    Option      "TVStandard" "HD1080i"

Then comment out all of your Modes in your Screen section.

The X server and NVIDIA should automatically select 1080i resolution for
you.

Simple and works for me.
