Nah, *most* people will probably think "archived" means you've put it in a
dusty room full of old books.  That's really not a perfect analogy, since
afterwards there are two copies when before there was only one.  In fact,
"duplicated" is probably the most accurate word.

Only geeks will think zip or tarball when you say "archived."  For the vast
unwashed masses (aka, normal people), a zip is something that fastens your
clothing and a tarball is something black and sticky you don't want to step in.
 And it is "normal people" we're trying to better communicate with.

You're probably right, but I don't think we're doing ourselves any favors by
using the word "rip."
