I had a scary event like yours where it turned out that I wasn't looking under "all programs" in "Watch Recordings" ... first of all, double check that....

Then, if that doesn't work, go to the place where you store your recordings (I store mine at /storage), and see if there is any of your missing programs...

  New boy to the list so please forgive me, I'm fluent in Linux but just never got round to building a mythtv server until now.....
  Been trialing for a week, done the obvious like unsetting auto expire, had something set up for thursday which recorded OK, even started watching it on friday, today saturday it's gone, completely vanished nothing in the logs, no trace of it? 

  Come to that I can't see any cron jobs, so how would something delete it????
