[mythtv-users] mythfrontend channel changing

I was looking around and I found that some people put a repeat in their
lircrc files:

begin
prog = mythtv
button = 3
repeat = 3
config = 3
end

In mine I do not have that.
begin
    prog = mythtv
    button = 3
    config = 3
end

What is the point of the repeat.
