Is there a particular reason you don't just pick up a serial IR receiver
from someplace like www.irblaster.info, and then buy an IR remote from
wherever you like?  That's the approach I used, and it works like a charm.
The serial receivers are supported flawlessly by linux, and it also means
you can pick the remote you like the best.  Personally, I grabbed a
One-for-All 8820 (http://www.ofausa.com/remote.php?type=URC8820) which works
great, looks nice, and is dirty cheap (~$20).
