If it's freezing around the time when one show ends (or is supposed to
end in the case of sports) and another begins, or even a minute or so
after a new show begins, then its probably the bug mentioned here:
http://svn.mythtv.org/trac/ticket/2335

There are also some threads about this ticket on the dev list.  Right
now there's several patches on the ticket for workarounds you could
try, although none are proper definite fixes yet.
