[mythtv-users] New PVR 500MCE, dead tuner?

I'm working on a fresh install of Knoppmyth R5F1. I previously had been
using a PVR 250 and added a PVR 500MCE when I decided to perform a clean
install. After auto-install finished and I tried to setup the tuners, I
saw that only one of the PVR 500's tuners was detected. I tried
upgrading to ivtv 0.10.5 and got the same results. Here's my dmesg output:

I've done a lot of searching, and most solutions point to problems with
the firmware revision, etc. However, since one tuner is detected I'm
thinking the other tuner is plain bad. Is there any possibility there's
a software fix to this problem or do I need a new PVR 500? I'm hoping I
don't have to get another one because returning things to newegg from an
APO address is a pain.
