I have managed to find a work-around to solve this issue by importing
the channels.conf file (that I had created with the scan command) into
MythTV.

This is done in Input Connections -> Scan for channels -> ScanType:
Select "Import channels.conf", then enter the File location. You
should enter the full path including the file name.

It seems that I'm in a bad reception area as only some of the channels
would lock in. But at least I've got the Nova-T 500 card working. I
now need to work on getting better reception.
