I'm not sure if I saw this mentioned, but a cheap alternative to actual slim
devices are Media MVP boxes running mvpmc (http://mvpmc.org). I have a
couple of these connected in my house. The connect to the slimserver
software on my Myth box and can play from my music collection, streaming
stations, sirius etc. I cannot connect to Pandora, since that requires and
actual Slim device.

Plus I've got the added advantage of quiet front end Myth boxes that can
play recorded TV and stored videos.
